Proper aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself. Following the wrong routine after a professional procedure can lead to complications, extended downtime, or reduced results. Here is the Korean dermatologist-approved guide.
Universal Do's After Any Treatment
- Do apply SPF 50+ religiously: Your skin is more vulnerable to UV after any treatment
- Do keep skin hydrated: Use gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers
- Do follow your clinic's specific instructions: They may differ from general advice
- Do sleep on your back: Avoid pressing treated areas against pillows
- Do drink plenty of water: Internal hydration supports skin healing
Universal Don'ts After Any Treatment
- Don't use active ingredients: No retinol, AHA/BHA, vitamin C for at least 3-7 days (varies by treatment)
- Don't touch or pick: Keep hands off treated areas to prevent infection
- Don't exercise intensely: Sweat and increased blood flow can irritate treated skin (wait 48-72 hours)
- Don't use hot water: Lukewarm water only for cleansing
- Don't visit saunas or pools: Heat and chlorine are harmful to healing skin
- Don't apply makeup: Wait at least 24 hours, longer for ablative treatments
